The Main Door to the Church. The Sacred Heart of Jesus
Welcome to the St. Andrew Catholic Community. The Doors were carved by Tomas Oliva Jr. and titled "The Way". What an appropriate way to enter His holy church, through the "The Way". The doors break off center around the head of Christ, along the left side of his body. There is a "handle" at the draped end of Christ's left sleeve to open the right hand door. The Altar and ambo. Behind and above are four stained glass windows fashioned after the windows in the old St. Andrew Church. The bottom of the windows containe symbols of the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Below them their Gospels are proclaimed.
The Icon of St. Andrew and the votive altar lie to the right of the main worship space. To the left of the altar is the Guadalupe niche. The picture is an exact replica of original which hangs in the basilica in Mexico City.
To the right of the altar, lies the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This was carved from basswood and bleached white. The artist is Alexandre Safonov.
Behind the statue, painted in the niche, are the words "Come to me all you who labor and are burdened and I will give you rest" Matt. 11:28 The Tabernacle is eight sided like the altar and has a copper "roof" like the Cupola of the church. Outside the windows lie a beautiful view of Mount Rainier. A bench is placed outside so that the tabernacle is available at all times for those who wish to come for prayer, adoration, and meditation.
The Stewardship Plaza outside of the church. The inscription reads " The Foundation upon which our Parish Mission and Goals are built is the attitude of all at St. Andrew toward Christian Stewardship.
Around the plaque are 4 rows of bricks with engravings chosen by the families who contributed to building the new church through stewardship. The church was funded through weekly envelope donations and ongoing stewardship of the parish.
Welcome to the St. Andrew Catholic Community.
