Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Catholic Church warmly welcomes new members. We genuinely try to provide an opportunity for spiritual formation in Catholic beliefs, practice, prayer and worship that meets each person's individual needs. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the Church's most comprehensive program to prepare adults for initiation sacraments. The goal of RCIA is to foster community and help to deepen the conversion of individuals to the teachings of Jesus Christ and his mission in the world. The structure of RCIA is built upon the key components of teaching the Gospel, prayer, catechesis, and building relationships within the community.
Our program begins in July and ends on Pentecost in the spring. Those who feel ready to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation do so at the Easter Vigil.
We gather Tuesday evenings in the St. Andrew Building B . The sessions will include prayer, hospitality, a presentation on a topic, time for questions, and hopefully answers. Childcare is provided.
We offer a similar program for children of catechetical age at the same time on Tuesdays. Children need to be close to six years of age when they begin the process. Junior High and High school youth are very welcome to journey with our adult community.
There are many parish members committed to the RCIA process. They serve as team leaders and
they assist with dismissals. They also help to provide a bridge between the RCIA community and the larger St. Andrew
Parish.
